Mr. Baw den wu a native of thus city and aged about fifty-two years. He had been in railroad service for a number of years; first ith the Wilmingto t Manchester Railroad Company in 1853. but of late ycar3 as pay master and inspector of agencies of the Carolina Central; and. very recently was promoted to the position of ticket auditor of the Raleigh & Augusta. Raleigh & Gas too, and Carolina Central Railroads. lie was a member of 81. John's Lodge No. 1, F. and A. M., of the order of Knights of Pythias, and of the veteran corps of the Wilmington Light Iofaotry. Socially and in business circles he was held in the highest esteem. II is funeral will take place this afternoon at half past 4 o'clock from his late residence, corner of Second and Chesnut streets. The pall-bearers arc Messrs. Alvis Walker R. F. The captain and crew of the abandoned Spanish barque Maria came up to the city yesterday from Smlthrille, and are quar tered at the Seamen's Home. The barque remains in the possession of the pilots at the quarantine station. The owner of the vessel, who resides in New York city, baa been notified of the condition of affairs by Mr. F. J. Lord, the Spanish Consul at this port, and is expected here to-morrow. An agent of the owners of tho cargo reached here yesterday aod went down to the vessel In the afternoon. A Bride Over Iiranawlck Illver. A substantial wooden bridge is in course of construction over Brunswick riTer. at Ibe ferry. The work is being dono under contract for tho ferry company. Stone bulkheads have been built on both sides of the rirer, and piles have driven in the riTer bed for tbe support of the structure.
